Delete your account & data

You can permanently delete your Klynea account and the personal and health data associated with it at any time. This page explains how to do it from inside the app, and how to request deletion if you can no longer access the app — as well as exactly what is removed and what (if anything) we are required to keep.

1. Which apps this covers

This applies to your Klynea account across both the Klyneapatient app and the Klynea Care clinician app, and the Klynea web portals. Deleting your account removes it everywhere.

2. Delete from inside the app (recommended)

The fastest way is from the app, where we can confirm it's really you:

  • Open the Klynea app or the Klynea Care app and sign in.
  • Go to More → Privacy & data controls → Request account deletion. (Privacy & data controls is in the Security section of the More tab; Request account deletion is at the bottom of the screen that opens.)
  • Confirm your identity with the one-time verification code we send you (or your password, where asked) and confirm the prompt.

For most accounts, deletion is processed immediatelyafter successful identity confirmation. Once completed, it cannot be undone. If a clinician account still owns clinic or organisation records that must first be transferred or closed, the app will not delete the account or its data; it will explain that the clinician must contact support to resolve those records before trying again.

3. Request deletion without the app

If you've uninstalled the app or can't sign in, emailprivacy@klynea.in from the email address registered on your account (or include your registered mobile number) with the subject "Delete my account". We will verify your identity and complete the deletion within 7 working days, and confirm by email — within the timelines required under India's DPDP Act, 2023.

3a. Delete some data, keep your account

You don't have to close your account to remove specific data. In the Klynea app you can delete these items yourself at any time:

  • Uploaded documents and records — prescription scans, lab reports and other vault documents. Open the document and tap Delete; this permanently removes it, together with the AI insights and lab-trend readings extracted from it.
  • Clinical photos — open the photo and tapDelete photo; this permanently removes the image and ends any doctor shares.
  • Health Connect data — go toHealth → Health Connect → Disconnect & delete synced data. This stops syncing and permanently deletes every reading Klynea imported from your device for that profile (vitals you entered yourself are kept). You can also revoke Klynea's access in Android Settings → Health Connect.
  • Emergency (SOS) contacts — remove a contact from the Emergency SOS screen.
  • Doctor access — More → Privacy & data controls → Who sees my records lets you revoke a doctor's access to your records (this stops sharing; it does not delete the record).

To delete anything else — or if you use Klynea Care — emailprivacy@klynea.in from the email address registered on your account (or include your registered mobile number) and tell us what you want deleted. We will verify your identity and respond within the timelines required under India's DPDP Act, 2023. The retention described in section 6 still applies.

4. What gets deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes your personal and health data, including:

  • Your profile — name, mobile number, email, date of birth, gender, and any linked ABHA / Health ID.
  • Your health records — conditions, allergies, medications, prescriptions, lab reports, vitals, symptoms, and mood / mental-health entries.
  • Uploaded documents — prescription scans, lab reports, and vault documents (insurance, ID proofs, discharge summaries).
  • Consultation data you own, reminders, vaccination records, insurance and claim records, and your AI chat history and AI-generated summaries.
  • Family / dependant profiles you created and manage.
  • Your registered devices and push-notification tokens.

5. Export your data first (optional)

Deletion is permanent, so if you want a copy of your data, export it before you delete. In the Klynea app go to More → Privacy & data controls → Download my data (in Klynea Care,More → Privacy & data controls → Export my data) to save a machine-readable copy of your records. This optional product feature can also help you review the personal data associated with your account.

6. What may be retained, and why

We remove or de-link personal data associated with your account unless it must be retained for a specified purpose or to comply with law. A limited set of records may therefore remain, with access restricted and direct account links removed where technically and legally possible:

  • Clinician-signed consultation records. Where a doctor conducted and digitally signed a consultation or prescription for you, that clinician's own copy is preserved as part of their medical record where applicable professional or other legal rules require retention. Klynea removes the deleted account's direct user link from retained platform records where the data model permits; clinical content that the clinician is legally required to keep may remain available only to authorised parties for that purpose.
  • Financial & tax records. Invoice and payment records we are required to keep for tax and accounting obligations, retained for the statutory period and never used for any new purpose.
  • Minimal security audit logs. Limited logs needed to keep the platform secure and to evidence that your deletion was actioned.

Retained items are not used to contact you, for advertising, or for a new incompatible purpose. Applicable retention periods and access restrictions continue to apply.
